Brandi (Mena Suvari), a seemingly average caregiver at a home for the aged, turns out to be a monster of the most frightening kind--the monster-next-door. Having just received a promotion, Brandi spends the night partying, then accidentally hits a homeless man, Tom, (Stephen Rea) while driving home. With the bloodied man alive but lodged in her windshield, she promises to go to a hospital but at the last minute changes her mind and heads home to figure out her next move. If caught driving under the influence, Brandi risks losing her job and more. Realizing that her fate is inextricably intertwined with that of her victim, she intends to leave him, still embedded in her car, in the garage. Somehow, Brandi convinces herself that it would be best if Tom simply bled to death, allowing her to dispose of his body -- and her problem -- later.
