Bill Maher's exploration of the religious ocean is very limited. He essentially juxtaposes Muslims and Christians (cannabis faithfuls notwithstanding.., ) No Buddhists. No Hindus. No Aboriginal Peoples. Bill seems to mostly be on a jehad against Christianity, a theme he establishes while interviewing his aging Mother in the Cathedral of Charles. While I was amused by some of the characters Maher interviewed, they were mostly mundane, not the Great Philosophers or Scientists of our time. Also, he interrupted them, constantly. ME! ME! Me! Was the refrain. This film should be on TV as a documentary. It's no better than a Sixty Minutes Episode.

Biased and fallacious. Maher is the one who is ridiculous.

This is a brilliant essay on the how religion leads to ruin. It is a documentary that is at times funny. It is certainly always extremely entertaining. However, its real strength is in its intelligent and powerful argument. I would recommend it to everyone, but especially to those who consider themselves "religious".

Bill Maher has entered his decline phase. It's a one way ticket down to "never has been" status - This "documentary" is a Rhetoric with no substance. Please, don't waste your money or time for that matter.

I liked this movie because Bill Maher uses it to tell the truth about religion, like the fact that it's a man-made idea used to dumb the brains of otherwise normal, thinking people.

Superb, needed to be made. Funny, yet serious, which I think says a lot about how farcical the idea of religion actually is, that you can ask a couple of casual questions, and before long, the answers that come back in defense of religion get very, very silly, very quickly.

Just go see the movie if you’re not too narrow minded. If you are willing to accept that religion is real then you have no choice but to accept that is could also be fake. Choosing otherwise would be naive. This movie does not say not to believe but to question what you believe. “Every corporation has lied, deceived or hidden something from you... what makes you think for a second that the religious community has never done anything wrong. ”

I'm not going to say too much (as I really don't want to get into an argument about religion) other than if you have an open mind then go see this film, it was hilarious.

Maher lacks in-depth, scholarly knowledge and is overly bold in challenging EVERY major world religion. It's a bit like a kid getting into punk rock or hip hop and questioning "all authority."

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!! He really tells it like it is... If you do believe in religion (or Santa Claus for that matter) then you'll hate this movie... I loved it because he says exactly what I feel! My only little nit-pick would be that Bill should wear his seatbelt while in the Van!!

I thought this movie had some excellent points. Obviously, it only shows one side of the debate because that’s the point that Maher is trying to stress. That religious power is scary because it is not questioned. I think that the most important point Maher made throughout the movie was not necessarily to not believe in anything or not to have any faith but just to question everything. I think that if more people asked themselves honest questions on a wide range of topics, they would see that we as humans are not acting in the most positive way for our future. Whether this be in how we are treating our planet or how we are treating each other. Love for each other, our planet and our future should be our compass. If we simply apply that and if there is a god, I'm sure he would agree that this is the best route to take.

Interesting documentary but it is pretty much saying that religion = fanaticism! This is quite arguable... The end is pretty dramatic. Starting with the argument that "doubt" is better than any certitude when it comes religion and ending with the certitude that religion should be eliminated. Quite ironic! Is the documentary dealing with institutionalized religion or religion itself?

Brave and fair film... taking the side of humanity, and showing that man created god not god created man.

I enjoyed it. It was a very funny and informative documentary. The importance of this film is rank up their with Moore and Gore's films. I urge people to go see it while it is still in theaters. It sure had me and my friend talking after the movie. Kudos to Bill for being so brave. I would love to see him in more movies. He is a [...] funny guy.

He's fighting beliefs with a different belief... plus, this guy mixes different forms of religion without making a distinction or knowing the difference between them. Putting liberal (religious groups) and fundamentalists in the same boat doesn't make sense and is disrespectful. He makes a couple good jokes and good arguments against people that need to be questioned, but in the end, he creates a very inaccurate image of the role religion plays in the world. He never lets people explain, the entire movie is only his point of view. Watch this movie with someone that is informed about religion. A good suject, but the wrong approach. Oh yeah! He is complaining about how people shouldn't be irrational, but this movie is very irrational."Grow or Die!", what a joke!

I thought the movie was overall great and funny, however it got a little too preachy during the end of the film. I guess not enough people wanted to be interviewed by Bill Maher.

Very good and to the point! A must see, describes much of the tension in the US today, which is mostly along religious lines.

This is one of the best movie u can ever see because it just would change your view of the world and all what u've been told since birth. He challenges things that no one would ever dare challenging. Only regret is that he spends majority of movie questioning Christinism and much less time for other [...] religions.
