Not a teen flick although many would like it. A sleeper that deals with n historical event that is major in the wine industry. If you like wine this is a sure winner.

It's an interesting story but I thought there was not really enough actual plot to carry a whole movie. The love triangle aspect really felt like filler and I thought was shallow and unresolved. Acting was not star quality, except for Alan Rickman who was pretty good. I'd call this one a rental for wine lovers on one of those nights where nothing else at the rental store appeals too much.

If you are interested in wine and it's history, you will enjoy this movie as a significant moment in vinicultural history brought to the silver screen. I agree that some scenes were slow, and others were pretty cheesy. But overall, it was pretty enjoyable.

If you're a wine enthusiast, you'll love Bottle Shock! Do not listen to critics bashing this movie saying it lacked depth and maybe predictable at times... Hello, this is based on a true historical event (see the "Paris Judgement" on Wikipedia) that changed the wine market and put Cali on the wine map!! This movie is a breath of fresh air... the Napa scenery were awesome, and yeah the girl was cute. And by the way, the title is very fitting! Lighten up, relax, watch the movie and sip some vino. Cheers.

I love Rickman, and he doesn't disappoint. Bill Pullman does an about face and plays an unlikeable character, and does it well. I really liked Freddy Rodriguez, a new face, but hopefully we will see more of him. Could have done without the son/female intern sub-plot as it added nothing to the film. In general a very good film... was not disappointed when paying full price for tickets!

Worth seeing if you have an interest in wine. This wasn't an adventure movie or a suspense movie - just good old fashioned sweet entertainment.

The Bill Pullman role was thoroughly unpleasant. I was almost hoping his wine would not be in the running for first prize. I also thought the hippie hairdo was a bit much and was hoping Bo would tidy up a bit when he went to France. No such luck. Allan Rickman saved the day but not enough to save the movie.

I lived near Napa for a time and often enjoyed the winery tours. It is a unique part of the States and this film treats its heritage 'Just Right', as my Murcan friends used to droll. Alan Rickman is delightfully narcissistic as the Anglo/Franco wine fop. He sets the tone for the most entertaining aspects of the film. Bill Pullman was miscast. He roils between petulant rage and self-indulgent whining while almost failing in his dream of crafting the perfect Chardonnay. The film treats an interesting moment in wine history but had too many sub-plots, few of which were satisfactorily resolved, despite 'Sam', the female eye-candy, doffing her duds at a moments notice.

Interesting piece of wine history which I never knew. However the film was so slow I almost fell asleep. I thought the script was lacking, Bill Pullman was not believable and in general the screenplay was lacklustre. The whole movie was miscast and lacked life! Silly movie title too! No imagination.
