I expected more from this movie, misled by the big names. However, it is watchable as a rental. It is light entertainment that will appeal more to the ladies.

Somehow there was something missing. The storyline was just ok and the ending was quite sad and depressing. However I did enjoy Diane Lane's performance, she was terrific. I wish I could say that much about her co-star. ;)

I thought this was a very good movie, maybe not one of the best I have ever seen but still pretty good. This movie almost made me cry (and thats hard to do) I didn't like how it ended for reasons some romance people might know! The scenery was amazing, and I didn't want it to end. And for those who say this was a rip off of 'The Note Book' they are wrong.

Bad, bad, bad. Storyline is barely believable and no scenery. Could have been much better but they try to make this into a crappy Notebook ripoff, which by the way is just as bad on its own.

Beautiful scenery in this movie, that is the only good thing I can say about it. The house in it is amazing and I hear it actually exists. Did not buy the relationship between the two main characters. The dialogue was so phoney. I really did not like how they made Scott Glenn's character speak like such a backwoods hick - very exaggerated. Do not bother going to this movie.

Good chic flic. A good movie to listen to with the fireplace going, blanket, glass of wine and a few kleenex for some! Diane Lane is good as usual.

I like Diane Lane and Richard Gere BUT their hot relationship was not convincing to me. Their kisses did not look real... no real looking passion or lust there to make it all believable. I was very disappointed in this show. Renter only!!

That's 2 hours I'll never get back. What a yawn. I'd rather pay to sleep than watch that again. Acting unconvincing/contrived by Gere, Lane and others. Story kinda lame. Enjoy (another) the show!

I read the reviews before I saw this, and should've listened to the bad ones. This movie was awful, there wasn't a moment where I wasn't aware that Diane Lane and Richard Gere were trying to act (and failing miserably!) The story was ridiculous, the characters were not engaging, the ending did not elicit a single tear (which is unusual because I'm a movie cryer) Avoid it, it's not even worth renting.

It was so beautiful to finally see a movie so close to home and with such a fabulous story.

This is probably one of the worst movies I've seen. Don't waste your money... not even worth the rental cost. The acting was poor, the movie predictable and the love scene a joke. So disappointing.

I can't help but wonder if they skipped the test audience for this movie... It's a pretty good movie but between what is going on with Diane Lane and her family, what is going on with Richard Gere and a patient, and the ending, this movie is a bit of a downer!

I loved this movie, and I must say Richard Gere still has it!!! He gets better looking all the time. Diane Lane is still amazing too. Don't miss this movie.

Clichéd and predictable. One of the worst I've seen this year. Thankfully I didn't have to pay but I'd rather have spent my time doing something else.

Absolutely fantastic movie. Everyone has their own opinion of this movie and should see it to voice their own. I was glued to my seat. A definite tear jerker. Girls will love it and do make sure you have kleenex. Story was great but mother/daughter relationship was the best.

Before I went to see the movie, I looked at the reviews on here. This movie is a fantastic movie (along the lines of notebook) if you can relate to it. Divorced couples can appreciate this movie. I enjoyed it very much and would recomend it to my peers. I could understand why the younger audience did not enjoy it. It's all relative as all things are.

I absolutely loved Lane's stellar performance and have always been a fan of Gere, however I just hate the tough love reality ending. Left feeling unfulfilled and depressed wishing I had spent my money elsewhere. I suppose some might say that to be so moved means I actually got more than my money's worth. Still, it was my money and my life. Hope Lane does another movie like Under The Tuscan Sun.

I was very disappointed. It was not the movie I was expecting to see. I felt very detached and was never drawn to the characters. I would never watch this film again and was sorry I spent my time and money seeing this even the first time round.

Very familiar Lane/Gere tearful story that comes across as a bit too contrived. The acting is fairly good but at the same time somehwhat blasé. All in all good life story.

Disappointing. Script was same old, same old. Diane Lane is a great actress; Richard Gere is over-rated; they just didn't click. Couldn't wait for the movie to end. Wonderful scenery though.

My mom and I went to see this movie and both of us were disapointed. I expected a lot from two well-known actors. There was NO chemistry between the two main characters and there were basically no other actors in the movie (besides maybe 5 minutes of the amazing James Franco and some clipits from other characters) I kept waiting for them to reunite to reignite their flame because when they left eachother and started writing letters, I didn't see any love. I saw lust. This movie is definitely not recommended. Anyone who compares this movie to The Notebook, shame on you! Just because the story is written by the same person does not mean you can compare them. The Notebook was the best romance movie to date and this movie didn't even come CLOSE. I would see House Bunny over this.

Richard Gere gets better with age... I loved that this was a touching, simple, heartfelt movie about the power of love. Nicholas Sparks does it again. Well worth seeing.

Just about life and the challenges of love and family. Reality shot with just enough hope to see the light at the end of the tunnel as you continue to walk through. It brought out many primal emotions. Loved it... resonates still.

I really loved this movie because it was based on the reality of what happens in life and what it has to do with love; friendship; kids; death; regrets; pain; divorce and so much more... The acting was wonderful and I was touched by it all. I loved it.

This had to have been one of the worst movies I have ever seen! The ONLY good thing was the scenery. Terrible, slow, unrealistic story. And AWFUL acting. I was so disappointed! My friend and I just rolled our eyes at one another through the entire film. Don't waste your hard earned money!

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] I am conflicted about how to rate this one... the first 50 percent of the movie was good, not brilliant... the pacing was nice and slow, calm, gentle, like the beach and the ocean. They didn't rush, and I liked that. I sat there and thought "this isnt so sad". Could have been a bit better, like seeing Diane Lane purge her emotional guts about her marriage to a stranger, umm *flinch* dont do that! The second 40 percent was better, the pace picked up, the romance picked up, and you sensed that the big finish was approaching. I cried, my friends cried, the whole theater cried. I could hear snuffling, sobbing. It was so sad... Then I should have LEFT!!! The last 10 percent of the movie was garbage. Everything that happens after she has the heart-to-heart with her daughter is worthless. Its like they ran out of time and tossed in an ending as an afterthought. The thing on the beach with the horses - please! Give me SOME credit as a thinking, feeling human being! I would like to send them back to the editing room and FIX what *should* have been a 8 or 9 out of 10 movie.

I don't know what movie most of you are watching but I loved it. I found both characters very believable and realistic I am a crier so had the tissues ready and thought wow I didn't even cry - then the big surprise finish. Bring the tissues.

Diane Lane looked unkept and it looked as though she roled out of bed and just showed up to work. Richard Gere is one of my favourites , but not this time round. I like feel good movies. This was depressing and never seemed to get off the ground. Very Bad.

Completely contrived and ridiculous dialogue does not give the two leads, who are the only reason to consider seeing the movie, anything to work with. Very disappointing, definitely not worth it and nothing like The Notebook BTW.

My grown daughter and I went to see this movie and we both liked it alot. It had some very moving, sensitive, funny parts without being smutty or crude. Diane and Richard definitely have chemistry. If you love a good romance, then check this movie out!
