It was actually a really good movie especailly for a Musical it didnt have supid songs that you had to think about why they even put that song in their it doesnt make sense. Everything was great the actors and actressess and the music was the plus.

This movie was so bad by the end we were laughing out loud! Meryl Streep playing a 40yr old with way too long hair extensions was just awkward. The singing was painful and I didn't buy one moment. I love ABBA but it was lost in some really bad acting. The younger unknowns were actually pretty good but the well knowns over acting. I love the hand gestures during the songs... such depth... made me think of Napoleon Dynamite. Wow this movie was B-A-D.

From all these positive reviews, I expected a lot more. I was very disappointed! I would not waste my money on this one.

I love musicals so this movie appealed to me. I am from the 50's era, way before Abba but I do know the song Dancing Queen. I loved this movie and so did my husband who normally does not like chick flicks. It was funny and entertaining. Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried were awesome. Pierce Brosnan does not have a god voice but I found his singing very endearing anyway. Christine Baranski was hilarious! This is a wonderful movie, you really should go see it.

I thought it would totally blow, but it was actually really fun. At the beginning it was just kinda silly, but then after they sang "Dancing Queen" it really got good. Me and my mom went to see we both (almost) cried at the "Slipping Through My Fingers" part. Great mother-daughter flix.

Sorry guys, but this movie was beyond aweful. The acting was cheesy, the singing was bad and it had a stupid story line. Although the scenery was nice. I wish that I could get those two hours of my life back!! Man, it was bad - can't emphasize it enough.

I left a comment earlier and rated it 9 out of 10, big mistake, I had to go and see it again, definitely 10 out of 10!!! I towed my husband along this time, my mother went again as well, and HE LOVED IT!!! Great cast, great songs, beautiful movie!!!

Okay this movie was AMAZING! I saw it with my mom and we both loved it. Its up beat, fun and the music is awesome. It definitely is a must see for all ages! Meryl Strep does and amazing job for a woman in her 50s and Amanda Seyfried has tons of talent and a great voice. I would definitely recommend it to everyone!

MY GOD! It's a really fun musical that's gonna make you laugh, cry , sing and really want to get up off your seat and dance. Streep is a little old to play Donna but does it beautifully so it doesn't matter. The dance scenes are funny and very well done. It's basically a really great movie.

I loved it! My best friend and I went twice to see it. It was a little corny seeing Pierce Brosnan suddenly break into ABBA songs, but that just made it better. It was definitely entertaining, especially the little scene during the credits.

In its soul, the happy and euphoric sounds of ABBA's music was always about yearning, desire, loss and sorrow. The film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical Mamma Mia! Achieves these qualities, but quite by accident. And Pierce Brosnan singing? Sad sad sad. My date said we were going to see "The Mummy", I swear that’s what I thought she said...

Great cast for sure, even if they did miss the boat with casting Meryl Streep. Don't get me wrong she is a great actress, but she is 57 and the role really called for a woman 38-40 at the most. Sometimes broadway doesn't translate to Hollywood, here is a perfect example! Too melodramatic even for the drama queen in me.

I guess I'm jaded, having seen the stage version twice. The movie version does not hold up. Being a good actor does not make one able to be in a movie that requires that you also be a good singer. Meryl Streep mostly holds a tune, but she doesn't have a voice comparable (in the least) to those on stage - nor does she suit the role of Donna Sheridan ~ it just doesn't work for me. Colin Firth basically held his own, but was hugely miscast as Harry Bright ~ he would have been much better as Sam Carmichael. Pierce Brosnan as Sam Carmichael may be easy on the eyes, but cover your ears - OUCH! Stellan Skarsgaard, don't think he sang more than a bar or two - but also miscast as Bill Anderson, who, in the stage version is MUCH funnier. For the ladies, Christin Baranski can sing & dance, this was just a very different style than the stage version. I quite liked Julie Walters and thought she portrayed her character well, as did she sing well. Lead Amanda Seyfried did well. I know this is not the stage show ~ but at least they could have gotten actors who could actually sing. I keep thinking that the great reviews this movie is getting are probably coming from people who haven't seen the stage show, in which case, GO!! The music is great ~ but, please, try not to clap or sing (like 3 ladies did while I was watching) ~ that's just rude.

My wife and I really wanted to like this movie but couldn't. Every five minutes someone was singing something and the plot, well, there wasn't one really. Unless you're 50 + and an avid Abba fan, be afraid; be very afraid...

Really enjoyed the ABBA tunes; surprised that the actors could sing so well! One complaint to the theatre: why do movies have to be so blessed loud? I'm almost a senior citizen so my hearing should be waning. I found myself plugging my ears several times, but it was still way too loud. I could have sat out in the parking lot and heard every word perfectly.
