An excellent movie. Reminds me of the story of the prodigal son from the Bible. Excellent story, drama, suspense and everything else.

Blew me away. Joaquim Phoenix is brilliant, his reactions were so heartfelt, when he cries into his brothers arms, when he drops to his knees and passes out, overwhelmed by whats happened... Well, had me tearing up a bit. And that CAR CHASE was so frightening it made me feel a bit sick, very real, so much more so than the slick car chases we normally see where nobody loses control at all. The moody rain just made it even more perfect. Mendes as the girlfriend was good too, they seemed to have genuine affection for each other, not like most of her roles. I was VERY satisfied with this movie and have recommended it to friends.

What a great cast, but unfortunately very poor character development and weak story line. This could have been a much better film, if not for the strong cast it would get a 3. It is not a bad film, it is just too much in the same mold as countless other New York police dramas.

The directing was awesome but I would have liked a totally different cast for the two brothers. Mark Wahlberg looked like he hated his role and this was all just a pay cheque for him. Joaquin Phoenix always looks miserable in his roles. I understand a conflicted personality may be called for at times but Phoenix is just miserable in all his roles. The storyline was a recycled one at best and it didn't strike me as anything new or groundbreaking.

Joaquin Phoenix is good as usual. Mark Wahlberg not as good... Good story... I liked the end. Its was very real when you know how this stuff can happen... This movie is worth to see...

I found this movie to be extremely exciting. Unlike movies where everything exciting happening was shown in the trailer, this movie threw surprises at you the entire time. A real edge of your seat kinda movie!

So much of this movie was a reflection of the triumphs and the perils I have suffered in my own life. But more beautifully crafted, and with much prettier faces. I left the theater in awe and intense speculation on all that the characters and I, personally, had just gone through. It was something uniquely beautiful; its roughness and realism was what both stimulated and tamed my soul.

This is about family, dilemma, drama,... I would have done the same thing if I were that main character. You get into a character, you get to understand each side, so it's such a drama. There's also a thriller feel to it too. Great movie don't miss it!

Thought this movie was better than Eastern Promise. If you're fan of both Joaquin Phoenix & Robert Duvall, then you will enjoy this one. Both did a good job in their roles as son and father. Not too violent compared to others.

What a phenomenal movie!!! 10+ Joaquin delivered a great performance. I wish Mark Wahlberg played more of a part in this movie. He always seemed to be just behind the scenes as Joaquin took the lead! The suspense was well thought out... not what I expected for an ending... I loved it! No stone left upturn. Must see on a date!

I went to see the movie we own the night it was masterpiece with excellent actors I alid saw the movie 10 times and it was traffic to watch it over and over I can't wait for it on dvd so I can go out and be the first to buy it.

It was reasonably good. Some parts were excellent - very suspenseful, very intense. The acting was very good. But overall it was kind of boring. As I was watching it, I was amazed that this movie could be good and boring at the same time.

With a talented cast such as the one in this film, you'd think they can embellish the story and suck you in it with them. Unfortunately, and to my great disappointment, the performances were very poor. The acting wasn't convincing, the story lacked action and was slow paced. Phoenix's terrible performance was comparable to one of Joey Tribbiani's theatre acts, except for the fact that Joey's failure was amusing to watch.

I LOVED THIS MOVIE!!! I think that the actors' performances were excellent. The suspense was there and I loved how they portrayed the criminals and everything. I know that I didn't elaborate very well but this is my point: GO SEE THIS MOVIE:):)

Absolutely, positively, 100% the worst movie I have ever seen! Is it just me or did they run out of money half way through production? Did any of the actors even want to be there in the second half? Wow it was bad! My friends and I laughed for the entire second half of the movie it was so bad! I think the script was written on a piece of toilet paper! Have you have ever seen "The Ice Harvest", the second worst movie of all time? Well let's just say it's gold compared to "We Own the Night"!

We own the night is fantastic! We saw this movie expecting heat from Eva and Joaquin, but were surprised by the level of heat they gave. Mark Wahlberg never disappoints. A total 10/10!

I love this movie. Excellent pairing of Phoenix and Walburg again. I really like the story line, the acting is wonderful... really enjoyable movie and I will likely purchase it once it is available.

This movie had big actors but had the plot of a 30 minute tv show that was dragged out for an hour and a half. Terrible movie. Predictable plot. It really went nowhere. I found it really hard to get into the movie cause it did no go into depth.

Gah! My friends and I (all 15) went to go see this, and we were DISGUSTED. First of all, the theatre we went to rated it at a PG. Then, after the opening creds finished, it happened. It was GROSS. Jauquin Phoenix is staring at Eva Mendez [...] It was very uncomfortable for the lot of us, so we walked out and saw another movie.

I was looking forward to seeing this movie and was extremely disappointed. It was slow, predictable and totally unbelievable. I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone as a rental or seeing it in the theatre. The 2 people who walked out of the theatre I was in were smart and didn't prolong their misery.

Joaquin played a great 'bad boy' but the truth of the matter is no matter how good his family might have been there is no way these types eventually take the high road. Not believable but watching both Phoenix and Wahlberg was not difficult for the length of this movie. Eva Mendes was okay... at best.
