A tender performance by Benicio Del Toro, Halle Berry was real and lovely and far from perfect which made her character so rich. A beautiful painful story of loss and addiction and the painful process of bereavement. I've seen a couple of other films by Director Susan Bier and this one really touched me. I see that others have a few problems with the story and melodrama, but anyone who has ever lost someone be it through a death or divorce knows it is an internal melodrama and moving through all the stages of mourning isn't a quick and easy fix. I really can't find fault with this film other than wishing certain events had turned out differently, but then that would be like a childs idealized dream.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] I'm sorry this movie was just too depressing... I thought that Halle Berry and Deltoro would get married in the end!!! But NO... the movie has to be all depressing... I'm sorry I hate movies without a satisfying ending!!!

Too long, too slow, too many flashbacks.

This movie is uninteresting and does not elicit any emotion. I was waiting for the plot to develop, however it did not amount to anything and left me wondering where it was headed. The simple message the movie was trying to convey does not warrant 2 hours of impotent conversation. Don't waste your money, even on the DVD.

Benicio Del Toro has tossed his hat in the ring for one of Hollywood's top awards next February. He and the sublime Halle Berry give soul to a film that could easily have sunk to the late night made-for-TV level.

Fantastic movie. First good movie Halle has been in since her last oscar win. Possible oscar winners for both leading actors?

It was a very emotional story. I would not recommend this movie to someone who has recently lost a loved one, particularly their father.

An awesome movie! Benico Del Toro steals the show with his realistic performance of an addict. Halle Berry gives a credible performance. It kept me riveted for the entire time. Very touching and a realistic interpretation of the dread in life.

Well acted, had its moments, but sometimes just seemed slow & boring. The ending went over my head (have to watch it again) Some of the conversations seemed too dramatic & unrealistic (or do people really talk like that and I'm from another planet? ) Liked the eyes & time shift scenes. Glad I went on a cheap Tuesday showing. Enjoy the show!

Yes, there is a link between bereaving your drugs and bereaving your loved one. Be prepared to cry and if you have unresolved issues concerning loses, be forewarned... Good movie, not a feel good yet not a feel bad either. You can wait for the DVD because a big screen wont make a big difference. Good acting by Benicio Del Toro.
