This movie is absolutely amazing! It is quite a challenge to try and take on teh Beatlessongs beacusethey are so brillant but they did a great job at updating them. The acting was fantastic and I liked the fact that none of these actors had been previouslt discovered. I am usually not a big fan of musicals because they seem too cheesy for me but this one was very good and the movie focused on the very important issue of war. A phemomenal movie. My all time favourite as of now. You have to go see it!

This is truly a masterpeice of art, music, life, love, and the story behind the Beatles songs in which the film is based on. The story line is built on Beatles songs like Hey Jude, Across the Universe (hense the title), and many more, most songs not featured or sung are also a part of the film such as sexy sadie (a character), and the legendary APPLE RECORDS (a green apple cut in half which jude attempts to draw) and also she came in through the bathroom window (character: Prudence)! Much thought is put into this film; you automaticaly think.. ooh a musical. Great (:S). which is exactly what I thought when I saw the ad for the film... but honestly a masterpiece and would be a disgrace not to see this. Thank you.

One of the best musicals I've seen in a while. The singing is mesmerizing and will restore your faith in the ability of humankind to produce beauty. I don't like Bono and found his presence annoying, or I would have rated this a 10. Seen this movie 3 times in theatres and twice on dvd. You will be hard pressed to find someone who honestly didn't like anything about this movie. It has eye candy, plot, excellent soundtrack, and their voices will move you to tears.

I can't believe this movies has such high ratings. For me, it totally sucked. Incredibly dull plot (if there was any) and good songs wasted for a romantic story that bored me to sleep. I regret seeing it. Total waste of time.

This film was fabulous!!! It plays well again and again. The music - the singing - the acting - the fun - the creativity - the concept - the intelligence of it - the sheer audacity of taking the works of the Beatles and putting it to screen could have been a colossal disaster - but this works and works and works again.

Very boring and random. They seemed to pick songs and then try to create a movie around it. Very disappointing, especially after seeing MAMA MIA, based on ABBA's music.

Across the Universe is a very interesting and different movie following the lives of several people brought together by mere luck. It gives us an overview of what people who lived back in the day had to go through if they were gay, rebellious, etc. The directing and acting are both really good. Personally, in some scenes, I had to use my own imagination in order to try and figure out what that particular scene meant. Overall, you will enjoy the music and the filming style, because its different.

The story and acting were good; the choreography was excellent; the sensitivity and creativity in the arrangements of some of the tunes were wonderful - it would be easy to disappoint when re-arranging a Beatles tune. None of the arrangements really annoyed me - some really moved me!

This movie is so good. It is unique and it features music for its time period that completely lets you know not only a love story between two teenagera but lets you see the political and literal meanings of the songs done by The Beatles. If you like the Beatles this movie is definitely for you!!

I laughed out loud, I smiled for about an hour, I cried once or twice, and I felt like signing the entire time. It's a really good movie, with great actors, a little craziness (think Moulin Rouge but 60s style), and a fine juxtaposition of carefree youth (dancing, singing, imagination, art, love) with crushing oppression (Vietnam, racism, police brutality) The constant Beatles songs fit really well with whatever's going on in the story at the time while the singing voices (all from the cast) are quite good. Evan Rachel-Woods sounds light but with good range and Jim Sturgess sounds like a slightly more soulful version of Ewan MacGregor. All in all, worth seeing, especially if you're familiar with a lot of Beatles songs and are young at heart.

I was brought up in the 60's and this movie was so off base when it came to the 60's. You just see some of the events that happened in the 60's and the songs of the Beatles. Is this suppose to mark the best movie someone has ever seen? I saw the Beatles, I was there when the Detroit Riots happened I was there when they were protesting the Vietnam War. Let me tell you no one was getting up and singing a Beatle song. They were singing songs like: "We shall over come, we shall over come. It was a generation that saw injustice and they wanted to do something about it. It was Bob Dylan's songs that were the most powerful. The first 20mintutes in the movie I wanted to walk out. I stayed just to see if it was going to get better but it did not. I was never so happy to have a bathroom break and not feeling compelled to hurry back. When I came back they were still singing the same song. One of the worst musicals I have seen.

IF YOU HAVENT SEEN THIS MOVIE YOU ARE CLINICALLY INSANE!! Sorry. I just had to have a moment there where I embraced the music and acting in the movie and relived my wonderful time in the theatres watching this magical film! I know, I know, I may sound corny and slightly physco, but this movie really makes your toes tap and your heart beat. If you enjoy musicals, The Beatles, and a mind trip, you're sure to enjoy this movie.

This movie is the story of Jude a young british boy that is going to find is natural father. During all the movie the story is supported by over 30 songs of The Fab Four. This aspect of the movie is awesome. In the movie, the caracters starts singing song of the Beatles and they get transported in another world. It's sure that we can expect the mains characters to abuse some drugs because they are in the nearly 70's, but with the sucess of the Beatles, the characters pass happy moments, tough moments, sad moments and angry moments. In conclusion this movie is very good because when they start singing you can pass to a sad scene and after the song , the scene get more happy , it change the mood. I really recommend it to people that are able to endure when there is musical parts. And even the it's not like the other musical, it is a new kind of movie.

A movie, well worth the price of admission! The wonderous music of the modern Mozart & Beethoven (Lennon & McCartney) is heard here - The Beatles - a group which managed to have 13 top-hit LPs (CDs) in a span of 8 years. The movie captures the majesty of the Beatles harmony, rolled into acting - a well-worth piece of music, movie, history to see!

The actors did an excellent job of interpreting the songs of the most influential rock and roll band of all time. I did not think that anyone could capture the Beatles era on film and musically the way this movie did. Ten thumbs up.

The music is very important in that movie. It's a musical comedy and all the songs are from The Beatles but interpret by the actors. The choice of the actors is very good because all the actors have a beautiful voice. Some song are different from the original version but very good. The film have been created related the song of the Beatles so you can understand very well the mood of the character. It's very a beautiful and amazing movie and the soundtrack is so great.

Admirable, but could have been sooo much better. The story is thin and dull. The visuals are great, but Taymor did much better with "Titus" and even "Frida".

Great musical-drama with the backdrop of only Beatles music. It brought back souvenirs of days gone by, the Vietnam War and the peace movement. It would have been a tad better with real fab four music and other groups of the 60's. Anyway, it's a great film and the two hours + went by very quickly. I smell a part two and I hope it's called 'Can't get no satisfaction'. ;¬)
