This was an entertaining movie. The writter/director should have had more motive to push this movie a little further. The atmosphire from the people at the premier was a little negative, I still found it entertaining. The CG was very well done, but the action could have been... more.

One of thoose movies that are highly overated and are actually quite crappy once you take the time to watch them. My advice dont watch Beowulf it may have good acting and pretty good special efects but the movie is a pile of crap.

I recently saw this movie on DVD and I'm so glad that I didn't go watch this at the theatre. The graphics are amazing, I must admit, but the plot isn't interesting at all. The end could of been better too.

Very cartoon-like, oversimplified plot, characters, acting, everything. Yeah, you can marvel at the digital effects, but it seems pretty lifeless. Would be better left for saturday morning between Scooby-doo and the Transformers. You'd be much better off seeing the 2005 Beowulf and Grendel, which, while not life-changing, actually had some thought provoking bits, and real actors instead of CG crap.

A fantasy tale with an overt use of computer generated scenes.

GREAT EFFECTS, and story line. This movie brings the story to life, as it is told in the legends. I really liked it.

Too cartooney... would have been much better with real life actors.

After the initial 'wow' of the graphical effects, I was soon wishing for the credits. This movie tries to rest its' laurels on the CGI between computer and live actors. It does this well, but boy does it get boring very, very quickly. The storyline was OK but to get from A to B (within the story) took forever. Very poor film in terms of progression through from beginning, middle and end. Yawn!!!

This american version of the film is over the top, see the original foreign film, forget this one altogether.

The animation is simply beautiful. The movie was full of action, adventure, and... humor? There were some pretty funny parts.

It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. A lot of hype about the 3D effects. Didn't live up to expectations.

Not bad overall. The animation was inconsistent, some parts were very well done while others lookee cheap. Decent storyline and good action. Entertaining.

Lots of nudity of men. Even a battle in the nude. To bad the she Demon wasn't fully nude though. Overall though the movie was really slow and boring to sit for 2 hours though. Good battle scenes.

I love the poem. When did Beowulf become an antihero. When did demon's become misunderstood disabled people? Adaptations can deviate from storylines as long as they don't change the tone. Avoid this if you liked the words on the page. The only good thing was the 3D.

One of the worst movies of the year... In other words - IT SUCKED!!! DO NOT go see it. Although Angelina Jolie was kinda hot... (heh heh heh)

I loved the movie! A great fantasy/adventure story with awesome special effects. Angelina Jolie was amazing in her role, as small as it was, it was a powerful role. She never dissapoints. I loved Anthony Hopkins, he was great as the king. He is also an amazing actor. I sometimes really like a movie, but not the ending, this one was good from start to finish with a terrific ending!

This movie as based on a old legend. The special effect was very big and impressive , the music is a bonus but she's very important and she add a bigest impressionat the movie. The acting was not very awesome and this a movie with the simillarity of a american soap :I have a hide kind's... but with the greatest action and the very nice monster this is better. The textur to give at the actor was very revolutionair and interesting. He have a good matching with the soundtrac and the action of the actor. Domtos.

Meh. Plot is dull. Such as 300, symbols are overexplained.

It's a good fantasy movie base on a real myth. I would not have done the CG make-up on the characters, it reminded me too much of shrek, but after a while you pass over it. The story close enough to the norse myth (as far as I can tell) and the rendering of the monsters are very well done, especially the dragon. It's not LOTR but still , I was not pissed to pay full price on a friday to see it.

The action in this movie was fairly consistent. The way they did the CG was something special. You could easily tell they were CG compared to 300, it definitely brought a different feel to the movie, which I personally enjoyed. The ending in this movie was hard to digest considering I was waiting for the happy ending and the rest that comes with it, instead I was given a not so tasty treat to ponder about. In the grand picture of things it was overall a good action movie that I'd recommend to just about anyone interested in action movies over the age of 14.

Like what other people said... the movie wasn't that great because it lacks storyline... and the characters lack expressions too = ( but I liked the animation.

The commercials made this movie look like it would be filled with action and an AWESOME movie, but it was a dissappiontment really. I have already seen a movie with the same story, can't remember the title, and all the good parts were in the previews... a bad plot and I didn't like that it was all cgi. I wouldn't recomend it...

This movie was good, kept my attention, but the last 1/2 hour wasn't riveting... the 3d fx were amazing, the best I've seen but the story itself was lackluster to say the least... but worth seeing just for the effects.

I was very dissappointed in this movie. It started out slowly, painfully slowly, and didn't really get moving until halfway into it. The animations were annoying in a lot of places. I felt it was an incredible waste of the actor's talents.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] Possible SPOILER. Anytime I watch a good-guy bad-guy I want it to come to some sort of a conclusion, hopefully the good-guy wins. But when a movie has no real conclusion the demon just carries on her ways... well if you like fantasy movies a DVD rental will be worth while.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] The ending didn't end as I expected!! The people didn't accomplish their goal of killing the female demon. And, the ending left me hanging of what is going to happen to Beowulf's friend since he became the King at the end. Is the nightmare going to start all over again in the village or is the new King going to resist the sedutive female demon. And, obviously there's no way of killing the female demon!

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] This is easily the best 3D movie I've ever seen. I typically hate 3D but this was really something. The 3D rendering was used to effectively that I definitely got scared and jumped at least twice. If someone had told me this was an animated movie before I had seen it, I would have been less shocked. The commercials definitely made it look like Anthony Hopkins was in this movie. But it's only his likeliness that's in it (and voice, obviously) However, it's the most convincing animation I've ever seen (far better than Final Fantasy) Everyone except for the Queen played by Robin Wright Penn looked very real for most of the movie (there was an occasional scene where it looked like animation, for instance the entire first 5 minutes of the movie) Grendel is incredible. So incredible that I wouldn't bring kids to see this movie. The cast is so good that it's what makes the movie as entertaining as it is. I think the combination of amazing visuals and the great cast is what gives the movie its weight in gold. I can't score this movie higher because those few moments where the animation makes the characters look like plastic dolls, it takes you out of the movie during that moment. You feel like you're watching the unfinished version. But at times it's so convincing that I can't help but think this is how movies will be made in the future. Still, the movie succeeds in being very provocative in many ways. And I'm not just talking about when Angelina Jolie rises out of the water naked. Far from being considered one of the best movies of 2007, it's still a decent flick and entertaining from start to finish.
