About life and relationships and love, mistakes very well done one of those rare movies that has an ending that you actually like.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] A rather sweet movie despite all the profanity. Josh Peck gives a nice performance as a new graduate trying to earn money by selling dope the summer before he heads off to college. He also wants to get laid, but doesn't count on falling in love. Olivia Thirlby is also good as the step-daughter of his very messed-up shrink/customer (the excellent Ben Kingsley) and the object of his affections. The two have good chemistry together and the film is quirky and authentic in its portrayal of teenagers trying to navigate their lives despite their parents being more confused than they are. Not exactly a feel-good movie, but one that is honest in portraying what it's like to be uncertain yet still forge ahead.

This movie is whack. So hurtin the characters are so annoying, so unrealistic and not believable. The lead character is the biggest loser and would have been rolled 5 secs into the movie, the second the cart came out, what idiot would carry that much. I hate when weed is soo cool in American movies, when it's just for babies. I get it, it's 1994, way to many references especially to Guilianni and Reebok pumps were before in way before that. This movie was a cheap rip off of KIDS a great movie. And Ben Kingsley sucked!

Thoroughly endorse this movie. Josh Peck is one to watch for. The man has talent. This film was pleasently heartwarming and laugh out loud funny at parts. The only way I felt let down was my expectations were high for the early 90s NYC to be a larger character, or give off a greater sense of time and space. However, this movie could have been set in this week and I can't see a lot being lost.

Ben Kingsley was certainly an odd character in this movie, Overall it was a great take on pre-guiliani NYC.

'The Child is Father to the Man'. This statement, rather than a 'Coming of Age' story, is more appropriate for Levine's film. Ben Kingsley's character, slightly older than that of Josh Peck, kept me laughing whenever he was on screen. A comedy... no message. Sir Ben was a delight!
