There are a lot of things I could say about why this is one of the worst movies I have seen in the longest time... But I would not want to waste too much of anyone elses' time on Date Movie (even a review of it) for I felt robbed after witnessing this piece of bile slither itself to the credits. I can see the filmmaker's intentions, but their aim is WAY off. Example. The cat lady. Why are her cats being hurdled around? Cats whipping around could be funny... If it didn't come out of nowhere! Cat ladies do not have cats colliding in mid-air, that is not what makes them funny. This nonsense goes on and on. I'll admit to chucking at some of the British lead's (to hell with his name for now) antics when doing a frighteningly close impression of the Say Anything speakerbox moment (look at the facial tick he does... I'm an impressionist at times, he got it right on!) and a couple other little jokes of his... But they are all expendable. The level of entertainment this thing provides could maybe (MAYBE!) fill a sitcom time slot, but not a film. The gross out gag is getting tired, parodies only work when they are more subversive or cleverly played ([...] is with the Yoda getup? Or the Napolean Dynamite bit? Those are not jokes... They're just bad) I can feel myself whipping into a frenzy so I will stop soon. The Meet the Parents sketch had potential... I must get that out of the way too. Like Failure to Launch (see my previous review) many of the worst jokes are one where they do not know when to stop! Long jokes rarely work. I laughed when Team America tried it... I cringed when Date Movie (refer to the idiotic cat/toilet scene) Like I said, it goes on... And on. The long of the short of it is. This movie is not funny... Another hollywood failure. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! Rent the Naked Gun trilogy if need be, or Airplane!
